Team MDT: The British Shooting Show

Last weekend, over 20,000 British shooting enthusiasts descended at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham for the British Shooting Show. MDT had a strong presence with UK distribution partner Highland Outdoor, which was positioned right next to the main entrance.

MDT was represented by Team shooters Rory Gibbons and Ryan Charlton, alongside Supported shooter Andrea Charlton. The guys were on hand to answer questions on subjects from rifle cleaning to getting started in competitive shooting, hunting, and, of course, the latest MDT launches – fresh off the back of SHOT Show!

With a full display of MDT products to suit every application and budget, the Team was busy throughout the 3-day event. As a consumer event, the British Shooting Show allows visitors to walk away with products that catch their eye, and for MDT, the most popular item purchased was the MDT GRND-Pod. Rory describes this versatile bipod as being “exceptional value for money, given how quick it is to adjust and how stable a platform it gives to shoot from.”

The products in highest demand were the new Mountain and Back Country bipods, which proved hugely popular with Scottish Deer stalkers who always look to save weight without sacrificing performance. Ryan added “the ability to quickly attach the bipods to a picatinny or ARCA rail makes transporting the bipod on the side of a bino harness where the weight isn’t really noticed a great option. The quick and quiet leg adjustment means getting up above the heather in the highlands simple, which can only lead to greater success”.

The new CRBN stock was also on show for those looking to lighten the load when hunting. Designed as a stock alternative to the HNT-26, the CRBN is also foam-filled to reduce recoil and is available in black, woodland, and the eye-catching orange blaze.

As a well-established lady PRS shooter, Andrea loved having conversations with other female sharpshooters, especially those looking to get started in rimfire PRS competitions. Those ladies were directed to the ACC Premier GEN2, a chassis that has almost all the features of the Elite but a shorter forend to fit rimfire rifles better. Like the Elite, the Gen2 can be fully customized and weighted to achieve a perfectly balanced rifle set-up.

The MDT ACC Family and an MDT XRS Chassis System.

Another GEN2 product was the new slimmed-down SendIt Level. The sleek and tiny box can now sit under a scope or be mounted horizontally or vertically to the rifle. A fiber optic ocular kit is now included, as well as additional features such as automatic shutdown, 100 hours of battery life from a CR2032 battery, and the ability to customize the light display. The SendIt Gen2 was very popular with all visitors to the stand.

Another new launch is the range of Nanotech cleaning products; with free samples of the new gun oil being given out on the stand, we expect the British shooting public to have the slickest bolts going! This can be applied to any moving metal parts of your rifle to keep them moving smoothly, whilst also providing nano guard to keep any dust and debris out of your chamber. This will complement the gun cleaner and protector to provide a simple and effective gun-cleaning regime.

The Show had some pretty awesome booths!

The LSS Gen3 also saw a lot of attention, with people intrigued by the innovative modular design, allowing one barreled action to be quickly converted into a competition, hunting, or tactical rifle set-up. In a repeat of SHOT Show, the Champion backpack won friends on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Its innovative features set it apart from other PRS-related backpacks.

After a busy weekend of in-depth discussions with the wider shooting public, celebrating everything that is great about our sport. UK shooters are now focusing attention on the first match of the season, the MDT UK Frostbite which forms part of the European PRS Pro Series.
