These magazines are designed with a unique Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition design for reduced overall height compared to the industry standard.

MDT AICS-pattern metal magazines are manufactured from high strength steel, nitrided, and finished inside and outside with Cerakote Elite for ultimate durability, corrosion resistance, and friction reduction.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • 3.055 Outside Length
  • 3.90" Rear Height (same height as MDT 10-rd .308 metal magazines)
  • 2.50 max cartridge overall length (COAL)
  • Polymer feedlip inserts extend ~0.5" past the end of the metal feedlip backer, thus retaining the round longer, helping ensure the tip of the round has entered the chamber before the rear of the round is released.

MDT 10-round magazines are approximately shorter in height than standard AICS 10-round magazines due to MDTs unique Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition design, allowing easier mag changes when shooting prone.

10-round magazine includes 2 internal ribs that help reduce friction between the cartridge and magazine body and provide a smooth transition from a double stack to single feed at the top of the magazine.

Easy feeding and very durable. I put an MDT sticker on either side so everybody knows where it's from when it's in my rifle. Adds a little bit of weight as well. Overall fantastic product would happily buy another one if needed.

Problem feeding

I have to hit the bolt release to pull the bolt back. So it will load the round. Don't no if there's magazine for short. Or long action

Hi Larry,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am not exactly sure what you are experiencing by your message. Could you further explain what is happening, and if you have any videos of it, please send them so we can view what is going on.

Defective mags.

So far, I have received 5 . 223 metal mags, and 2 of them have feeding issues. In the defective mags, the 10th round will just pop out under spring pressure as well as have feeding issues with <3 rounds. The bullet will tip upwards, in turn lowering the rear of the round, preventing the bolt from catching and skimming off the top.

I am now on my second mag with the same defect, and rather than contacting customer support once again and having to drive to my local courier, I just melted the plastic feed lips enough to "help" with feeding. For a mag that costs 80 dollars pre-tax and 2/5 have the same defect, it shows clear signs of inconsistent manufacturing from my sample size.

So if you do decide to buy one, dont be surprised when issues arrive with feeding malfuntions and contacting customer support for a replacement.

MDT fixed my problem

I just finished the parts order for my custom build and all I needed was an AICS magazine so I had the chassis vendor (not MDT) add one to the list for $200 extra!
It was an AI branded mag from the high end Quebec brand ***ex.
Well that was when the problems started, it would not feed without tossing the shell so hard it would jam the round into the barrel wall. Nothing I tried would make it right until I cut 4 links off the inner spring and then and only then if you racked it as fast as humanly possible it might feed if it didn't feed 2 rounds. I was gutted a $10,000 build and it won't feed or eject reliably?
So I went back to good 'ole MDT and bought their AICS magazine and Voila!
perfect reliability both feed and ejecting.
You guys killed it with this SA magazine not only does it feed and eject perfectly it is also 1 inch shorter and more compact.
Don't waste your money on any other brand of AICS magazine as this one is more sensibly priced and it runs flawlessly.

MDT Metal AICS 223 magazine

I’m using this on a Tikka CTR that has been converted to take AICS magazines. Fit, finish, and function are all top notch. Zero feed issues.

Great Design and Build Quality!

These magazines are amazing! Great design and build quality add up to the very best AICS 223 magazine I have ever seen or used. Very solid, very reliable and with the polymer feed control, very comfortable to load. . . at least as good as an AICS magazine could be. Highly recommended and worth the price.

Doesn't feed well.

First off shipping took 2 months. The mag doesn't feed as well as my 6. 5 and 308 mags. What happens most of the time is as I push to feed the bolt stops and if I back it up a little and go forward again the round will pop up and feed. No speed shooting with that. I have been happy with everything else I have gotten from MDT.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. You may only need to tune your magazine for correct feeding. Please watch the How to Tune Your Magazine Video linked below. If you are still encountering feeding issues, please reach out to our support team at support@mdttac.com. Thanks!

So far so good, these

So far so good, these mags are by far superior to the OEM mags that came with my Ruger American Predator. They feed the rounds quite well and I have yet to have any feeding issues. They feel very sturdy and well made.
